Generelle lærebøger i anvendt adfærdsanalyse

In this creative, engaging approach to behavior analysis, written in clear, jargon-free language, Chance blends realistic examples with research and case studies. His main goals are for readers to learn the language of behavior analysis, to become acquainted with the most important procedures for changing behavior, and to recognize that scientific method can be used successfully to solve problems. He has created an interactive classroom experience to facilitate the learning and application of practical solutions to behavior problems. In a simulated classroom, course content is presented by Dr. Cee—a fictional instructor whose lectures are punctuated by frequent questions designed to keep readers on their toes and to think critically about a particular topic. This authoritative yet comprehensible text is written for an audience that includes parents, teachers, counselors, psychologists, therapists, and social workers.

How to Think Like a Behavior Analyst is a revolutionary resource for understanding complex human behavior and making potentially significant quality of life improvements through this evidence-based treatment approach. Behavior analysts offer a worldview of the human condition different than almost any other professional perspective. To a behavior analyst, human behavior is largely learned and subject to change if the right variables are put into play. This is an empowering outlook, providing an opportunity for individuals to analyze the actions of those around them and an understanding of why others exhibit such behavior.
Practical, clear, and direct, this book addresses basic questions such as how behavior analysis is different from psychotherapy, what analysis involves, and the meaning of evidence-based treatment. A chapter on Applications presents tips on using behavioral procedures to improve lives and deal with others, and articulates how behavioral procedures are used in community settings. In question and answer format, the text thoroughly covers 50 frequently asked questions about behavior analysis in an educational and entertaining manner. It was developed out of questions raised by students in behavior analysis classes over the last 35 years, as well as questions raised by consumers of behavior analysis services.
This text is written for all professionals concerned with behavior, including undergraduate students in psychology and behavior analysis, parents, teachers, employers, and employees. The book can easily be used as a supplement to primary texts in introductory psychology courses, and the exercises that follow each question can be used to stimulate lively discussion in role-play and other active learning situations.

Sloan Publishing and the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies are proud to announce the recent publication of the updated Fourth Edition of A. Charles Catania's classic LEARNING textbook. As in previous editions, this update presents a coherent treatment of both animal learning and human learning literatures while focusing on the research findings of cognition, ethology, foraging theory, higher-order classes of behavior, equivalence classes, biological constraints on learning, and social learning processes. The author uses experimental data to illuminate the relevance of basic principles to important human concepts, e.g., language, memory, self-awareness, freedom of choice, and self-control.
While containing all of the animal and human learning coverage of the 1998 Fourth Edition, this updated edition contains 40 pages of new material in special sections throughout the text, including tables that summarize Sources of Novel Behavior, The Vocabulary of Verbal Behavior, and Varieties of Memory.

What sets this text apart from all others is that it embraces the broader concepts of empirical research and assessment and evaluation, making it suitable for a broad range of courses in a variety of disciplines. The approach fits today''s emphasis on empirically validated approaches favored by managed health care services. It asks the question of whether we should change behavior, and how this may conflict with social values and individual rights.
Major techniques for altering behavior and the conditions that influence their effectiveness are detailed.
Examples are drawn from four main sources: research from core academic journals, vignettes from everyday life, news-related items, and cases from the author''s own clinical work.
Readers see how behavior change principles can affect a wide range of behaviors, including psychological and medical problems, academic performance, self-care skills, safety, and more.

Growing at an ever-increasing pace for over a century, the solid body of concepts and facts that constitute the science of learning demand a comprehensive, systematic introduction. Completely up-to-date and written in a direct, easy-to-read style that is suitable for undergraduates, The Science of Learning is such an introduction. Because its focus is on what is known rather than what is speculated, this book differs from other learning texts by not dwelling on which theories are or are not in vogue. The text''s comprehensive coverage makes it an ideal reference for more advanced scholars and specialists in learning and related fields.
Major topics covered include the evolution of learning, sensitization, habituation, operant and classical conditioning, imitation, stimulus and response generalization and discrimination, conditional discrimination, memory, motivation, adjunctive behavior, and aversive control. Numerous examples, applications, and illustrations are provided, making The Science of Learning an ideal text for courses in learning.
Unique to this text are detailed extensions to animals and humans in natural settings. Adding to its value as a reference as well as a text are appendices highlighting important mathematical developments (e.g., the Rescorla-Wagner theory, matching) and their derivations. Readers of the text will be exceptionally well positioned to follow the literature and comprehend the most recent developments in the field.

Behavior Analysis and Learning is an essential textbook covering the basic principles in the field of behavior analysis and learned behaviors. Both active researchers, the authors are disciples of a coherent theory--experimental analysis of behavior--pioneered by B.F. Skinner. Using this theory as a base to explain human behavior, researchers must understand the interactions between an individual and his or her environment. Expanding on concepts of the past editions, this book: *is an advanced introductory text on operant conditioning from a very consistent Skinnerian perspective; *covers a range of principles from basic respondent conditioning through applied behavior analysis into cultural design; *treats the topic from a consistent world view of selectionism; *elaborates on Darwinian components and biological connections with behavior; and, *expands most chapters with revised references and additional citations. The material presented in this book provides the reader with the best available foundation in behavior science. The discovery of functional relations between the organism and the environment constitute the objective foundation for this book. These functional relationships are described, and their application in accounting for old behavior and generating new behavior is illustrated. As such, this book is a valuable resource for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in psychology or other behavior-based disciplines.

This unique introductory textbook, the first to address psychology as a rigorous natural science, applies to the study of human behavior the same scientific standards taken for granted in other natural sciences. The result is a scientific psychology that studies the evolutionary, physiological, and environmental variables determining behavior. The authors discuss the relationship between science and psychology and examine issues traditionally important to psychologists, showing how these matters are often better understood by a natural science approach.
